5 out of 5 stars Special Knife   August 18, 2010

This is the second Nomad I have owned. It is my favorite pocket knife. I carry it everyday. The lockback blade and length make it perfect for camping, preparing snacks on hikes, or for utility uses at work and home. The tweezers are great for removing splinters. The cork screw and bottle opener come in handy. Anyone considering this knife should note the size. It is not a little knife.

5 out of 5 stars You need a Nomad   July 3, 2010

There is no need to discuss the quality of Victorinox knives. In fifty years of being a knife nut and sixteen years of living in Europe I have never seen a bad one.

The Nomad has the tools you need without the clutter of some Swiss Army Knives.
It has a large locking blade, can opener, bottle opener, screwdriver, wire stripper, cork screw, awl, tweezers, and the trademark Victorinox toothpick.

I consider the Nomad to be the most useful and practical knife in the Victorinox lineup. Its larger size makes it easier to handle that the standard size "Swiss Army Knife" and the longer blade is much more useful than the standard blade. The Nomad uses a liner lock for the main blade and screwdriver. The liner lock is much stronger and more secure than the button lock used on some of their other large knives.

The Nomad is perfect for the glove compartment, picnic basket or back pack. The Nomad has all the tools you need for a day or weekend of hiking or camping and it is just about the perfect picnic knife.

While I don't, some may think it too large for the pocket. An aftermarket belt sheath solves that problem.

If you need a knife you need a Nomad.

3 out of 5 stars Plastic   May 21, 2010

This knife has held up well and I have had it almost a year but the outer shell is plastic and feels kind of cheap. I also wish I had bought the one with the saw. It is nice how large the knife/blade is though.

5 out of 5 stars Perfect Pocket Knife   February 9, 2010

This Nomad knife is the perfect pocket knife for my use. It is not heavy and large but a respectable size and solid grip for rugged usage. The main blade is very sharp and tough edged right out of the box and stays that way after heavy usage. The tweezer and toothpick lock in hard and have not been lost due to loose fit as in many other knives. The locking feature of the main blade is an excellent safety feature as well as providing the ability to really push hard to make the blade do its work. I feel certain that this knife is a lifetime investment and will give me long-term service. It has a great feel in the hand as well as in the pocket. The main blade size is approx 3 1/8" or 80mm from tip to the start notch on the blade. The corkscrew is very strong and can easily pull a cork out of a wine bottle. In my opinion, this is knife will be a keeper and be with me for years.

Love this knife. I use it every day. It is nice to see that some items are not made in china.
