| Customer Reviews: DON"T leave home without it! May 11, 2010 F. J. Powell (Chester, SC United States) I have had my Traveler lite for 5 years now (not to be confused with the Voyager LIte..an earlier version), it's traveled around the world with me (literally) and what it can do is limited ONLY by my native ingenuity. What the other reviewers fail to mention (and oddly enough, the Amazon description) is that this knife gives you not only physical tools...but INFORMATION! Yes, not only does it have a clock, alarm clock and timer...it has a THERMOMETRE AANNDD a ALTOMETRE, as well as a BAROMETRE, so not only can you know the temp (outside, or inside if you're, say, in a hotel in Siberia) but you can figure out how the weather is going to change as well and roughly where you might be on a foggy mountain.
I thought it DID have a green backlight, but that must've been the previous incarnation, and btw, the alarm clock works quite well for those early morning fumbles to get out of last night's hotel room...
The other reviewers grumble a bit about the weight of the earlier Voyager Lite (which I assert can be useful if you're trying to throw a line over a high tree limb, or don't have a set of brass knuckles in a dark Naples alleyway--even shelling the odd pecan) besides it weighs less than the change in your pocket, and about the light, do YOU want to carry a separate flashlight in your pocket? But some people will grumble at anything. I value this knife so much that I've risked missing flights back to the US from China and South Africa because it was so much a part of my life that I forgot to pack it in checked luggage and had to sprint back to the check-in counter from security...but it was WELL worth the dash. (besides, who wouldn't want to stay an extra day on a Cape Town beach?? I'll lose the flight but I WON"T lose my Voyager Lite!)
At home, no screw ever need go untightened (phillips, flat or eyeglasses), no splinter unpulled, no phone number unnoted (and you can get replacement pen cartridges too); the only thing it needs is an embedded cell phone and my pockets would be pretty much complete.
