Product Description Olive Green Soldier Knife...The green Soldier knife is what troops use in the Swiss Army today. This tool is a thrilling new addition to the Victorinox line of tools. It features a high tech handle which is ergonomic and is of a dual density design to promote a sure grip in a wide range of weather conditions such as extreme cold or wet situations. The one-hand serrated locking blade allows for fast and easy opening. The bottle opener and can opener allow one to eat a meal anywhere. The Phillips screwdriver small screwdriver on the can opener tip and the large locking screwdriver on the tip of the bottle opener all allow for quick fixes of equipment in the field. The wire stripper reamer key ring and wood saw are other useful features that were deemed necessary by the military. The unique black and olive green bination handle is as handsome as it is practical. The Green Soldier Knife 53945 features include: One-hand serrated locking blade Phillips screwdriver Can opener Small screwdriver Bottle opener Large locking screwdriver Wire stripper Reamer Key ring Wood saw Ergonomic dual density handle Overall length closed: 111mm (4 3/8").

Like new bigger locking blade, but Quality is Inconsistent June 1, 2010 Scout Leader (Colorado) I bought two of these for my Cub Scout sons. I promised one of my sons a knife to replace a cheap, dangerous one I took from him after he got cut.
I've had several Swiss Army Knives over the years that have been very well built and reliable. I bought these for the locking blade, simple design and reputation.
The only issue I've had is with the main blade opening tension. One of the new knives opens consistently very smoothly with very little change in tension or force required over the span of opening it. What you'd expect for one handed operation as advertised.
The second knife reaches about 95 degrees opening and requires significantly greater force to continue opening. It's not like you've got to grab it with pliers and yank, but it is significant enough that it's difficult for an adult with single hand operation. My 2nd son cut himself due to this quality issue, so now I'm holding this knife until the manufacturer responds.
Good luck with yours!
Very good knife May 8, 2010 Adam Bricker The new Victorinox soldier is an excellent product. It gets a 4 instead of a 5 because it essentially comes in only a left-handed version. It opens just as effectively right or left, as the blade is situated on center, but it is more difficult to close it one handed with your right hand, due to the design of the liner lock. Also, while the liner locks are a fine improvement over the previous soldier, the blade does wiggle a bit. This does not seem to hinder its effectiveness, but seems like something Victorinox could improve upon. One other item to note, if you are purchasing this as a replacement to one of the older soldiers or a similar product, this knife is substantially larger both folded and open. I would not consider this a negative or a design flaw, but it might be a bit large for some pockets. This knife is an excellent balance of tools. I particularly appreciate the addition of the wood saw to the soldier. The liner lock on the large flathead screwdriver makes it exceptionally useful both as a screwdriver and pry bar. Overall, I would highly recommend this product.
not disappointed :) March 31, 2010 A. Joseph (Cleveland) Well, I was quite pleased with the knife. I purchased it for its collectible value (do not intend on using it). Always liked Victorinox swiss army knives. I have had a few and really do rough them up, they take quite a beating and still perform flawlessly. Prefer the finish and overall functionality over Wenger's. Wanted to own an actual swiss soldier's swiss army knife.... don't know what else to say... I highly recommend it?...thanks...
Solid wilderness fiolding knife. March 23, 2010 M. Clayson Great knife, great price. I'm not happy with the serrations, they seem sloppy. Saw works great, as do the other tools.
Awesome February 10, 2010 Benjamin Sky 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I had seen this knife in Outside Magazine. I was so excited to finally get it. I love the feel and new look. It will always be at my side when I am fly fishing.
