| Customer Reviews: great knife July 13, 2010 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
My aunt and uncle got this for me last Christmas and I love it.
Pros:
It has 2 blades and 3 screwdrivers; 2 flathead and 1 Philips.
I have no cons.
How does anyone live without an SAK? Just remember to check it! December 1, 2009 GHDave (Boulder, Colorado) I've carried one of these for many years. A couple of times I've lost one and needed to get another immediately -- many times a day I'd be reaching in my pocket for it.
Once in Copenhagen I forgot to put one in my checked bag and decided to try to smuggle it through security in my laptop bag. Fortunately my mother inadvertently created a diversion with her butane lighter and all was well. Another time in Denver I had to mail one to myself when I again forgot to check it. In recent years I've gotten smarter, at least in this regard.
The Super Tinker differs from the Tinker in having a scissors. I use the scissors often. This item can easily be a pocket knife, as opposed to one of those big fat ones that need to be carried in a holster. It seems to have the tools I need, and not ones I don't (with the exception of that hook thing, which I've rarely if ever used and don't really know what it's supposed to do). The Phillips screwdriver is way more useful than a corkscrew - on the rare occasions I drink wine it's usually too cheap to have a cork :<)
Victorinox is superior to Wenger, and makes very good knives. This one is no exception. You do want it on your trip, just remember to put it in your checked bag!

I've carried the same super tinker with me for over 30 years now. My original Victorinox also had the saw which I didn't use much and made the knife too bulky. The super tinker is perfect because I consider the scissors essential and it is not too bulky for my pocket. I prefer the phillips to a cork screw because I don't drink wine and the occasional screw needs tightening. I've been looking for an old fashioned key opening sardine can to use the slot in the phillips but haven't found one yet. I'll be ready if I ever do! Seriously, I use this tool all the time and while I don't abuse it, it has obviously stood the test of time. REI carries replacement tooth picks, tweezers, and scissors' springs if you ever need them. Choose the blade combination that suites you and get a well made tool.
Best utility knife you can buy April 29, 2009 Brian Gordon This is the real deal. Essentially unbrekable and very compact. A couple of useless tools though.

this is a great price on a classic swiss army knife. i bought this for my gf before our first camping trip and she loved it. she was always playing with my knives so i decided it was time for her own. has pretty much the essentials for the outdoors or daily use.
