In 1884, Swiss cutler Karl Elsener set up shop in Ibach-Schwyz, installing a waterwheel in Tobelbach Brook to run his grinding and polishing machines. Thus began what would become the international brand name Victorinox, a combination of Victoria, for Elsener's mother, and "inox," or stainless steel. Today, Victorinox produces watches, luggage, clothing, and, famously, Swiss Army Knives. The original product dates to 1897, when Elsener patented the Swiss Officer's and Sports Knife he supplied to the Swiss Army. Following World War II, American servicemen and women shopping in PX stores shortened the name to Swiss Army Knife, which lives on in English-speaking countries around the world and has become a metaphor for versatility.

Hi all of you:
I have had one of this in different color for as long as I can remember, Great Tool!!!
It is Full Metal, so it will never scars with the coins in your pocket.
The clip is steel, so it wouldn't flex into uselessness.
The four accessories are well balanced, nail file, scissors, knife, nail cleaner. All great.
An all great quality product.
I strongly recommend it.

I've been using Swiss Army knives since 1972 and buying them as gifts for others as well and I've never been disappointed. I recently decided to perform a walletectomy on myself and bought a minimalist wallet to ease my intermittant lower back pain. Since my new wallet was too thin and small to carry a lot of cash, I figured I'd get a money clip to carry my increasingly depreciating cash. I knew that Victorinox made them so I ordered one from Amazon.com. When it arrived in the mail, the first thing I did was test the long thin blade by shaving a patch of hair off my forearm and I wasn't disappointed - like always, Swiss Army knives are shaving sharp right out of the box!

My husband and were travelling to wyoming this fall and TSA took away his beloved Money clip/knife. He was devastated. So, for Christmas I got him another one. He was thrilled and considered his Vitrinox his favorite gift. I'm sure someone at TSA has it now and is very happy.

Great item, I had one for 20 yrs until TSA took it from me at LGA. Apparently its 1.5 in blade was a dangerous weapon! Needless to say it probably was in one of their pockets before they left work.
It's a handy tool.
