Amazon.com Product Description From the renowned company that created the Swiss Army Knife a century ago comes the Swiss Army Classic pocketknife, a compact set of tools for campers, hikers, and boy scouts. Measuring 2-1/4 inches long, the Classic is stylishly cased in a timeless solid-colored housing with the familiar Victorinox logo on the side. More importantly, the unit contains all the classic Swiss Army tools, including a small blade for cutting, a pair of mini scissors, a nail file with a screwdriver tip, a toothpick, tweezers, and a key ring. As with all Victorinox items, the Classic is made to exacting standards, with dozens of steps going into its construction. Victorinox attends to every detail, from selecting the finest materials to performing the final inspection. In addition, each individual tool has been hardened in a different way to stand up to its designated use. As with all Victorinox multi-tools, the Classic carries a lifetime warranty. About Swiss Army Knives In 1884, Swiss cutler Karl Elsener set up shop in Ibach-Schwyz, installing a waterwheel in Tobelbach Brook to run his grinding and polishing machines. Thus began what would become the international brand name Victorinox, a combination of Victoria, for Elsener's mother, and "inox," or stainless steel. Today, Victorinox produces watches, luggage, clothing, and, famously, Swiss Army Knives. The original product dates to 1897, when Elsener patented the Swiss Officer's and Sports Knife he supplied to the Swiss Army. Following World War II, American servicemen and women shopping in PX stores shortened the name to Swiss Army Knife, which lives on in English-speaking countries around the world and has become a metaphor for versatility.
Product Description No pocket should be without the Victorinox Classic SD Swiss Army Knife. A-OK July 22, 2010 Thomas (Boston) exactly what i needed. got here quick with amazon-prime. can't go wrong ordering from amazon!
Great for Everyday Carry July 22, 2010 Frosty Just recently bought this victorinox product to replace an older version I had for 5 years. It works the same as the original. It's convenient, doesn't get in the way of everyday tasks. It's great for everyday things.
There is very little the Swiss Army and I cant fix! June 28, 2010 Jamison J. Rice (Minnesota) I never concidered myself a pocket knife guy. I always thought they were for boy scouts and my dad! I recieved one of these knives as a gift several years ago and now I hate to go with out it. I don't like a lot of stuff in my pocket, but this knife is very small. I use it multiple time a day for cutting boxes, opening hay bales, and my kids toys packages. Nothing could be worse then haveing a new toy and not being able to get the package open!
But like I said, Iuse this knife every day. There is very little the Swiss army and I cant fix.
A Great Little Knife, but a Dangerous Weapon June 24, 2010 Pileated (CT, USA) I keep my long lived and indispensable Swiss Army Knife on a keyring clipped to a belt loop on my pants, so it is always with me. On a recent vacation I remembered to remove it when flying out of Logan but unfortunately forgot to pack it in checked baggage before going through security at San Francisco International for the return flight. The TSA guys did their jobs and confiscated it (I would have been worried if they hadn't). So I'm ordering a new one. I hope someone at SFO gets as much use from my old one as I did.
A must have! June 9, 2010 A. Carlson I had a Swiss Classic that I lost a few months back and when it was gone I was able to see how often it used to come in handy. It was like not having a cell phone... Ok, not that serious but I did really need it. So, I purchased another and am now back in a normal mode...
