About Swiss Army Knives In 1884, Swiss cutler Karl Elsener set up shop in Ibach-Schwyz, installing a waterwheel in Tobelbach Brook to run his grinding and polishing machines. Thus began what would become the international brand name Victorinox, a combination of Victoria, for Elsener's mother, and "inox," or stainless steel. Today, Victorinox produces watches, luggage, clothing, and, famously, Swiss Army Knives. The original product dates to 1897, when Elsener patented the Swiss Officer's and Sports Knife he supplied to the Swiss Army. Following World War II, American servicemen and women shopping in PX stores shortened the name to Swiss Army Knife, which lives on in English-speaking countries around the world and has become a metaphor for versatility.

VICTORINOX EXPLORER. July 25, 2010 raymond e riley (Orange, MA, US) Great product, super price. The best all around model that's not too large but has all the essential tools. This is my fourth explorer in say twenty five or so yrs.Lifetime warranty ,used to be free. Now it's $3.00 to bring it back to factory new cond.
father's day gift July 23, 2010 Alexander B. Morsch It's a swiss army knife, so it has... everything. Shipped fast, great price, would do business again
Great groomsmen gift July 21, 2010 A. Varner I bought 10 of these for groomsmen gifts when they were on sale. All the guys absolutely loved them. I bought one for myself too because I liked theirs so much. In the short 3 weeks that I've owned it, I've already found uses for all but 1 of the tools. Amazing product, well built, and very useful! I will agree with other comments that the case is a waste. It's a plastic shell and I would never keep anything (including my knife) in it...in fact it's probably already thrown away. But, I did not buy this for the case...I bought it for the knife. And the knife deserves 5 stars!
Wonderful pocket knife! July 12, 2010 California Doug (Los Gatos, CA) Victorinox is the finest Swiss Army Knife on the planet. Factory edge stays sharp for a long time. The Explorer is my favorite model for carrying around. It has just the right combination of features and weight. I insist on a magnifying glass along with other tools, blades and gadgets. Of course, other models have more features, but they are a little heavy in the pocket for daily use.
Buying this item from Amazon during their $10 off for >$50 purchase is truly unbeatable! (I have paid $46 for this same model in the past.) The gift box is a nice touch but really doesn't add anything for me.
Fantastic pocket knife! November 18, 2009 J. Arturo Torres (San Diego, CA USA) I've owned this particular model for well over 15 years! The Victorinox Swiss Army Explorer has never let me down, it is my favorite tool because it has almost any type of tool needed. I honestly love my Swiss Army knife, but I'm thinking of getting a new one (only because of cosmetic reasons).
