Product Description The Victorinox 53935 SwissTool RS is an outstanding multi-tool from the original makers of the Swiss Army knife. With over 100 years experience, nobody does multi-tools better than Victorinox. The SwissTool RS (Rescue and Survival) is constructed of rugged stainless steel that will never rust. Weighing only 10 ounces, this multi-tool measures a modest 4.5 inches when closed. All Victorinox SwissTools have OneStep access, which allows tools to be opened directly from the outside of the handle without opening the pliers, and a lock with a simple slide release to hold the tools securely in place. The Victorinox SwissTool RS features: pliers; two-, three-, and five-millimeter screwdrivers; a wire stripper, bender, scraper, crimper, and cutter; bottle opener; large blade; scissors; wood saw; reamer; Phillips screwdriver; chisel and scraper; strong crate opener; can opener; nine-inch and 230-millimeter rulers; hard wire cutter; and lanyard hole. It's a beast. I love it. June 11, 2010 D. Ward (Nashville) I've owned my SwissTool RS for 6 1/2 years, it's been camping, canoeing, kayaking, skiing, mountain biking, and it went backpacking around Europe for two weeks. Oh, AND we own an 80 year old house that needs a lot of work. Having owned other brands of multi-tool, and even many other Swiss Army Knives over the years, I have to say that the SwissTool stands out. First, you don't have to open the pliers to use the other tools. Second, all the tools lock. Third, the unlocking mechanism is SIMPLE. Fourth, the entire tool has the nicest finish, tightest joints, and highest overall construction quality of any multi-tool I've owned or even seen. Have I mentioned durability yet? I have ABUSED this tool almost every day for 6 1/2 years, and the only noticeable damage is the red painted "Victorinox" on the back is almost worn off. This thing has become my American Express Card, I don't leave home without it. My only advice if you're buying one: Wear a belt, this tool is HEAVY at almost 11oz.
3 and Half years of flawless performance April 14, 2010 Venkat R. Kotta This product is amazing bought it in 2006 October for about $57 in a deal and it does a lot of things for me. Dint have to buy a lot of separate tools that are included in here. It is very well made, strong and sturdy. I keep this in my car and use it in house and out of house. And also carry it around when i feel i am in Bad neighborhoods.. :).. It mostly does all the jobs unless the job requires much bigger tools or much tinier ones.
don't leave it home January 30, 2010 Mickael F. Berndt I've had one for my own use for 10 years and love it. We camp a lot and never leave with out it. I like the way that the you can access the tools without opening it all the way up. I bought this one for my son.
pouch can be better January 24, 2010 u-gin (NYC,NY) I recently bought it at Amazon.Pouch is made in Mexico and it is smaller than needed,I had to fix the button --it wouldn't close.Tool is good and pouch should be made where tool is made.
steve's swiss tool review December 17, 2009 S. Levine I bought this knife about six years ago for around $50 at Lowe's and i mostly love it. It's very handy and tough. The only drawback, and not one I consider serious enough to take away a star, is how tight some of the tools are. When I thought I lost this knife about two years ago I bought a Swiss Tool Spirit model and the blades are much easier to open and close with that model but it is not as hefty or manly as the original. Not coincidentally, my wife prefers the Spirit. It is a beautiful knife but if you really want a tool with some heft and the ability to do some serious work get the Swiss Tool.
